Kyle discovered Croad Vineyard while researching the best place to propose in Paso Robles and immediately fell in love with its boutique, welcoming atmosphere. Working closely with Julia at the tasting room, he coordinated the proposal seamlessly and was connected with me to document the moment.

To keep the surprise intact, Kyle planned a December wine-tasting weekend with his mom and her partner—carefully disguising the proposal as a casual getaway. He even had friends and family turn off location sharing weeks ahead of time to avoid any suspicion.

The Surprise Proposal in Paso Robles

As Kyle and Izzy walked onto the terrace overlooking the vines, Kyle gently set down Izzy’s bag and water bottle and led her to the proposal spot. Izzy instantly realized what was happening and whispered, “This isn’t happening right now,” completely stunned.

Kyle delivered a heartfelt speech before getting down on one knee, with golden winter light and cascading orange vines creating the perfect Paso Robles proposal backdrop.

The celebration didn’t end there—Kyle led Izzy into the barrel room, where friends and family were waiting to surprise them with a mini engagement party filled with hugs, cheers, wine, and pizza.

A Thoughtfully Timed Proposal

Kyle proposed with a ring designed from Izzy’s grandmother’s diamonds—an incredibly meaningful detail. One of my biggest proposal planning tips is to book your photographer as soon as the ring is ordered. Kyle did just that, allowing for a relaxed, intentional experience and a same-day highlight gallery they could share while celebrating.
